Queensland is booming

According to the Queensland Economic Review paper released via the Office of Economics and Statistical Research: it is all good news for Queensland.

During the 2006-2007 financial year Queensland outperformed all other states within Australia, with a rapid economic expansion of 6.8% (GSP), compared to the rest of Australia at 2.5%.

Furthermore, employment figures continue to strengthen with Queensland’s trend unemployment rating at 4% in 2006-2007, reaching a 33 year low. Queensland’s unemployment rate now remains below the national rate for the third consecutive year. An interesting statistic to ponder, is that Queensland generated almost one-third of all jobs created in Australia, yet only accounts for 19% of the population.

With Queensland’s population increasing by well above 1,500 persons per week over the past year (2006-2007), the housing sector also continued to outperform the nation. Housing investment in Queensland rose 10.1%, compared with 1.4% growth in the rest of Australia. Higher returns from a tighter rental market and rising house prices have encouraged investor activity.

Queensland employees benefited from strong wage gains in 2006-07, with the average earnings for Queensland employees rising 5.9%.*

Sunshine Coast

White Shells is on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast and is just north and only 1.5 hours from Brisbane, which is an enormous growth corridor. The area is already home to well over 300,000 people who are enjoying a pollution free, near perfect environment of white sandy beaches, blue skies and warm crystal clear waters. The Sunshine Coast has in fact recorded greater than national average population growth for the past three decades, and for good reason.

With Maroochy Shire being the largest contributor to the Sunshine Coast economy in 2007, White Shells is primarily positioned to take advantage of this. Also, because of its natural beauty, the Sunshine Coast remains one of Australia’s leading holiday destinations attracting over 2 million holiday makers a year. Due to this growth, the median unit price in Coolum has increased by an average of 14.1% per annum over the last 5 years (as at July 2007).*

You are on the doorstep of Australia’s history with Mt Coolum, an indigenous rock second only in size to Uluru (Ayers Rock), just under 2km from White Shells.

Boardwalks and bicycle trails weave in and out of the dunes, while virtually untouched beauty stretches out just metres from you.

Town of Seaside is a haven of calm and tranquillity. While you will feel you’re hundreds of kilometres from anywhere, you are always within easy reach of a bustling urban lifestyle.
